Nearly 619,000 adults in Utah have prediabetes, and 9 out of 10 people with prediabetes don’t know they have it. If you fall into one of these categories, you can do something about it by participating in the National Diabetes Prevention Program (NDPP), a class offered in the Ogden area by the Weber-Morgan Health Department and the YMCA of Northern Utah. Participants learn easy evidence-based lifestyle changes such as eating healthier, including physical activity into their daily lives, and improving problem-solving and coping skills. This program helps people with prediabetes and/or at risk for Type 2 diabetes make achievable and realistic lifestyle changes and cut their risk of developing Type 2 diabetes by 58 percent. For more information, or to enroll in the NDPP, please contact Stephanie Norton-Bredl at 801-839-3380. Find out your risk by going to www.doihaveprediabetes.org, or ask your healthcare provider today.
