Fruits and Veggies- More Matters Grocery Store Tours:

The Weber-Morgan Health Department, in partnership with local grocery stores and the Utah Department of Health, offers free educational Fruits & Veggies—More Matters® Grocery Store Tours (formerly 5 A Day Grocery Store Tours) to third grade classes in Weber and Morgan counties.

Fruits & Veggies—More Matters® Grocery Store Tours are a fun way to teach students the importance of fruits and veggies. The 1 hour tour integrates reading, writing, math, and nutrition skills in a fun but challenging way. By the end of the tour the students will:

    • Be able to identify the Fruits & Veggies—More Matters logo and key messages

    • Know what constitutes a serving size

    • Be able to identify and select all forms of fruits and vegetables in the supermarket

    • Be able to meet their recommended intake of fruits and vegetables by including them in all meals and snacks

    • Be able to identify why it is important to eat a colorful variety of fruits and vegetables

Tours are completely free of charge. Tours are offered throughout the school year, typically from October through May.  Because stores get extremely hectic during the holiday season, no tours will be scheduled on a holiday, or from Thanksgiving to New Years.

If you’re a third grade teacher, and would like to schedule your class for a tour, please call Rochelle at (801) 399-7187.  Please do not call stores directly.  Please note that stores can only handle one class per tour.  We also ask that you arrange for at least one other adult chaperone to attend the tour to provide supervision at the store.
